The Diva Film Festival to screen Malefaction
The Diva Film Festival is to screen the short film Malefaction in Brighton next month it has been announced today. It marks the first public performance of the short following its premiere at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in the City of York in November last year where it received award nominations for the NFS Award for Best Screenplay and Best Thriller.
Set over the course of one morning on a hot summer’s day, Malefaction tells the story of an aging hit man from Northern Ireland who prepares to fulfil one more job before finally retiring. The five-minute film, written and directed by Adam Price stars Daniel Godward and Peter Gerald and was co-produced by Paean Films and Phoenix Rising Media.
The Piccol-Odeon Theatre has been chosen to host the festival and with its vintage chairs and elegant swags, it is a venue that exudes character worthy of its Brighton setting. All films in the festival showcase are eligible to win £250 for Best Film as voted for by audiences and the festival jury.
Adam Price, the writer and director of Malefaction commented on the announcement saying: ‘I am delighted that the Diva Film Festival has chosen to screen Malefaction next month in a city with as rich a cinema and filmmaking heritage as Brighton. I commend Diva Espresso & Eats' ongoing commitment to supporting local cinema and championing new voices in this way’.
